Hi, I’m Lianne Arends

I'm a multilingual storyteller, story guide and a modern troubadour. ​

 

I shape life into literature, and myth into meaning.

I write short stories and literary fiction, and I'm the author of the GODYSSEY series, a body of work rooted in twelve years of research into the world's oldest myths and the forgotten women inside them. That research runs deep: Kabbalah and ancient mysticism, Norse and Greek mythology, the Knights Templar, Egyptian cosmology, and the languages that carried these stories — Hebrew, ancient Greek, and Latin.

I also work with others on their own stories. I work with women to craft their personal mythologies — excavating the deeper narrative underneath a life, the one that gives it shape and direction.

The thread through all of it: I believe stories are tools for healing, remembrance, and transformation.

 

My own path here ran through political science at the University of Amsterdam, French literature at the Sorbonne in Paris, and creative writing at Boston College. In 2012, I stepped out of a marketing career in Silicon Valley and into the work I was actually meant to do.

That work is still unfolding.

 

GODYSSEY is at the center of it. Everything else, the stories I help others tell, the myths I read and write, grows from the same root: the conviction that we become whole by finding the meaning in our own stories.
